I started practicing yoga and meditation a few years ago simply out of curiosity. Before that, starting a yoga practice always seemed overwhelming but it soon became a way of coping with the stress and all the ups and downs I was experiencing and a perfect way of looking deep inside, getting in touch with my emotions and indulging in the magic of the moment.
The peacefulness of simply being present lies in the ability to stop time even for a moment and appreciate that everything you want, you already are.
I know it sounds easier said than done, I know stress is around the corner and makes us worry about things we can’t control or change, but I also found out that life has a way of working out just when you were preparing to hand over your weapons.
If by change one day you are feeling overwhelmed, the world seems to be moving too fast and you struggle to keep up, just try to unplug for a few moments and follow this breathing technique which only takes a few minutes and can literally be done everywhere you are and at any time of the day:
Step 1: Make sure you are in a relaxed sitting position and your back is straight and not leaning against anything.
Step 2: Take one deep inhale in and consciously imagine filling up with air three parts of your body: lower part meaning the abdomen, middle part meaning the ribs and upper part meaning the chest and the clavicle.
Step 3: Reverse that on the exhale part thinking of releasing the breath from the chest and the clavicle, followed by your front and back ribs and finally from your abdomen.
Step 4: Repeat for one minute
